Every project has it challenges, this is what motivates us to use the kiwi ingenuity and our ability to look beyond the normal and seek out innovative ways to over come these.

 

After several meetings with NZDF managers and the NZDF Environmental team we looked into some of the various options to build these ponds out of that will give us the strength on the walls to sustain an hardstand for up to 13t machines and not have any properties leaching into the existing ground waters.

 

We put forward the use of Fiberglass Sheet Piles, these would be strong enough when locked together and not leach any chemicals or byproducts.

 

We designed four new ponds 16.5m x 5.5m that each can hold 220m3 to sludge to a total capacity of 880m3 and a 255m2 concrete drain pad that can hold two ponds of clear out for drying.

 

We incorporated large areas of hardstand with drainage installed to remove the ground water of the site.
